Night 3 Recap
"What's up with Mary and the Saints?"
"Got friends in HIGH places!"
Our presenters were David Roth, Jeff McCauley, Rich Breedlove, Gina McCauley, Paul Keinbaum among many.
Some folks got lost along the way as the main road in was torn up for new construction. However, the boy and girl scouts among us reconitered a path that got us to our favorite beach. Unfortunately, the pizza was late. they apparently didn't have a scout with them. Father Jim found his way to us and blessed the pizzas (although they hadn't arrived yet). Maybe the blessing is what got them to us?
Some of our folks didn't make it due to the next day being school registration in some of the districts. But we got on with our discussion, scavenger hunt and swimming, even if we were a bit behind schedule.
Our singalong music was provided by Mike and Maggie Eller, who are members of the St. Joe's choir and are well known and traveled musicians. They brought along their guitars and music.
Our thanks to Mark Lamb, who brought large lights which really lit up the night. Our only concern was that the Eller's might swollow some of the nats that were hanging out by the lights. However, we can report no casualties on this account.
Julie Sommers brought her famous S'mores. They were a brownie with carmel and marshmellow on top. The line for them was all the way around the tables and along the side of the kiosk.
Night 2 Recap
Master Presenter: Mr. Charlie Fink - "Why a Closer Walk with Jesus?"
Everyone arrived earlier this time. Just about everyone was in the water by 6:00. Those setting up the food were treated to a visit by a friendly deer who took an interest in the activities. Charlie Fink gave a teriffic talk. The attendees and the helpers were attentive as Mr. Fink explained how God is the best choice in a world gone so far astray.
Football was again the sport of choice for the younger children. The older had been so interested in the talk they ran overtime and did a scavenger hunt for a break before assembling in smaller groups to discuss what they had heard and talk about the teachings of the Church.
Dinner was turkey sub sandwiches and chips. With some really good lemonade made by Carla. Thanks Carla. Later we broke out the favored marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers to make smores. Music was provided by our local music man Jimi Finn.
Night 1 Focus
Our gathering on July 31 was fun! The pizza was good and the watermelon was ripe. And NO injuries were sustained either in the water or the touch football games. The Frisbees and trees met abruptly. And only a few marshmallows dropped into the fire.
The youths came from four different parishes and even from parishes in Idaho. Woohoo!! BLEST BE THE LORD.
